SUV Types and Uses

One of the types of cars St Catharines auto sales dealers provide is SUVs. Midsized SUVs feature a balance of interior space, fuel economy, and engine power. Smaller SUVs offer better fuel economy, while bigger models have more space and towing capacity. An SUV is a good option because it provides versatile cargo-carrying space, more driver comfoty, and powerful towing capacity. An SUV also has greater passenger capacity compared to other types of vehicles

SUVs are classified into two kinds: car-based and truck-based. The car-based SUVs, also known as crossover vehicles, They have a unibody construction where the frame and body are combined in one piece. They have an independent suspension that offers better handling and considerable comfort.

Truck-based SUVs are created with greater cargo and towing capacity in mind. They are good for hauling cargo through rough off-road conditions like high rocks, steep inclines, and descents.

There are a couple of things you have to consider when looking for a good SUV. First, you have to buy an SUV for its capacity and not its size. Midsized SUVs feature three-row seating and moderate tow capacities, which may be more suitable for you than larger ones. These vehicles’ three-row seating can accommodate seven to eight people, and are recommended for families.

Small SUVs are almost like sedans with a sporty look. They offer more space and flexible cargo room, along with a more comfortable driving position than sedans.

They even have better fuel economy than some family sedans. If you’re the adventurous kind, you can go for a little SUV with off-road capabilities. A hatchback or wagon provides great fuel economy and is considerably cheaper. You can choose from reliable used cars for sale in St Catharines that suit your requirements and preference.

Compact, sporty SUVs are relatively smaller, but offer better handling, quieter cabins, and a nicer fit and finish compared to small SUVs. If you like a larger vehicle, a midsized SUV can make great family cars. They carry out well and their fantastic interior space and cargo room provides comfort and convenience. If your priority is cargo capacity, then a large SUV is the right automobile for you, since these are designed for such tasks.

Aside from the seating, cargo space, and towing capacity, SUVs in general offer reliable safety features. They are equipped with side air bags for the front and rear side windows. They have an electronic stability control (ESC) that automatically applies brakes to stop the car from losing traction. They also have rear backup alert systems that warn the driver when a parked automobile or signpost is nearby. You can find high-quality SUVs and cars for sale in St Catharines dealers residents recommend.

Audi’s baby SUV

Audi’s baby SUV

Audi introduced its first SUV – the Q7 in 2006, it was based on the VW Group’s SUV platform shared with the VW Touran and Porsche Cayenne. The Success of the large SUV prompted Audi to introduce the Q5 which is based on the same platform as the VW Tiguan. Audi are now testing final versions of a mini crossover, the Audi Q3.

The Audi Q3 is in testing at the moment and many spy shots of it have been released on the internet, even though the test mule is heavily camouflaged you can still see the basic size and shape of the vehicle.

One of the noticeable design elements that are noticeable even in the heavy disguise is the steeply raked tailgate, suggesting the Audi Q3 will be more of a coupe crossover rather than a pure Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).

The latest model in Audi’s line up is due to be at an Audi dealer by the end of 2011; it will sit below the Q5 in the SUV segment.

The Q3 is 20cm shorter and 7cm narrower than the Q5, the Q3 is said to be around 4.4m long, 1.8m wide and 1.6m high.

The Q3 will feature three petrol engines — a 140bhp 1.4 litre, a 180bhp 1.8 litre and a 210bhp 2.0 litre — plus two diesels, with 140bhp and 170bhp. A 204bhp twin-turbo diesel is also in the pipeline.

SEAT which is also part of the VW Group has had to shelf its own plans for a similar model based on the VW Tiguan platform, ironically the new Q3 will be built at one of the Spanish plants where SEAT had planned to build its mini SUV.
